Mason Storm studies MMA, (Mixed Martial Arts). He is a both a teacher, and a student. He believes in keeping what works, and tossing out what doesn’t.
“It is my aim to show Science vs. Science Fiction when teaching.
Plenty of teachers and so called “Masters” Peddle Magic like “Dim Mak” a.k.a. the death touch, or “no touch” knockouts. This of course is absolute bullshit, and yet thousands upon thousands of people wanting to learn shell out hard earned money to be given absolute crap. We in the Martial Arts world have a responsibility of seeking truth, challenging ideas, and calling B.S. when its appropriate. When we treat it like science, the truth is quickly discovered. There are no Magic moves, or Jedi Mind Tricks. It is Physics, and Anatomy pure and simple. This is what I teach, as I was instructed by my teacher who deals in real world combatives, and trains police, military, and special forces.”
Mason Storm is a Muay Thai Kickboxer, with 6 years of training in the “Art of 8 Limbs”. He trained at MTA (Muay Thai Academy) in North Hollywood C.A. for 3 years, under Kru Puk, Kru Santi, and Champion Thai Boxer Malaipet Sitrapom. After tearing his gastrocnemius, and Soleus (Major Calf Muscles) from the bone, in a routine training session, he took a year and a half off to heal. Doctors told him to quit all “Hard Contact” Martial Arts forever. Fortunately Mason has never been good at taking doctors advice, and underwent a long recovery process. He is now back into full time training. Muay Thai is referred to as "The Art of Eight Limbs", as the hands, shins, elbows, and knees are all used extensively in this art. A practitioner of Muay Thai ("nak muay") thus has the ability to execute strikes using eight "points of contact," as opposed to "two points" (fists) in Western boxing and "four points" (fists, feet) used in the primarily sport-oriented forms of martial arts.
“I truly believe Muay Thai to be the best striking art on earth, and MMA has really been a testament to this. You just can’t fake Muay Thai, we get in the ring, we bang around, and you leave tougher every time. Rank isn’t an issue, skill is, and because of that the teaching is better, and the results are better than most martial arts.”
Mason Storm is also a 2nd Degree BlackBelt in Kenpo Karate, Under Grandmaster Steve Spry. He Began training under Mr. Spry in 2001, in Westminster California, and Received his Shodan (1st Degree Blackbelt) in April of 2004. He was promoted to Second Degree Blackbelt in May of 2007.
“ Kenpo translates into Fist Law, or The Law of the Fist. It is a combat slap/trap art that incorporates striking, breaking, controls and quick attacks to neutralize an opponent. Kenpo is legendary as an aggressive and lethal Martial Art. Unfortunately, It is also legendary for its politics, and Fat Grandmasters. I hold a great love for Kenpo, but don’t play into the politics. I am an aggressive striker, and both Kenpo and Muay Thai fit that perfectly.”
Mason has also studied, Chito-Ryu, Aikido, Ju-Jitsu, Boxing, Wrestling, and weapons.
Mason does his own film stunts, and does fight choreography as well, he feels that his Martial Arts training has given him a better understanding of what works on film, versus what works in a real combat scenario.
“I take a real interest in fight choreography, and love hong kong style action. This is where “Make Believe” and the “ART” of the Martial Arts comes alive. I hold a deep love for the onscreen dance. It is beautiful to watch. I have been blessed with getting to meet and work with some incredible martial artists”.
